Privacy and confidentiality

Counselling only works when it feels safe. Here is a plain description of how your privacy is handled — in a session, around bookings, and on this website.

What confidentiality means in a session

What you share in a session stays between us. I don't discuss your sessions with family, employers, or anyone else, and I won't confirm to anyone that you are seeing me.

There are rare situations where a counsellor may need to act — most often when there is a serious risk of harm to you or to someone else, or where professional and legal obligations require it. If that ever comes up, I will talk it through with you wherever it is possible to do so. Outside of those limits, everything stays private.

What is stored, and why

Booking details — your name, contact number and appointment time — are handled through the practice-management system I use to run the practice. That is what lets me confirm your slot and reach you if a time needs to change.

If I keep brief session notes, they are kept privately by me and are used only to hold the thread of our work from one session to the next.

Sessions on Google Meet

Sessions happen over Google Meet using a private link I send you. Sessions are not recorded.

It helps to join from a space where you won't be overheard — a closed room, or headphones if that isn't possible.

Website analytics and cookies

This website may use analytics tools such as Google Analytics, and advertising measurement such as the Meta pixel, to understand how people find and use the site — which pages they read, and how they arrived.

That is only about website usage. It is never about what is discussed in a session: these tools do not receive any session content.
